Before installation, prepare tools such as a screwdriver, electric drill, and vehicle lift, and position the vehicle on a lift platform or over an inspection pit. Suitable mounting locations are flat, clean areas on the underside of the chassis-specifically the front, rear, or along the sides. For vehicles with low ground clearance, avoid mounting the lights too close to the ground.
Common installation methods include adhesive mounting and screw mounting. For adhesive mounting, peel off the protective film from the light strip's mounting base, press the strip firmly onto the chosen location, and secure it. For screw mounting, drill holes into the chassis metal corresponding to the brackets at both ends of the light strip, then fasten them using the provided screws. Alternative securing methods include using cable ties or welding on mounting clips; if using cable ties, ensure the spacing between them is not too wide.
Regarding wiring, the power source can be connected to the cigarette lighter socket, a spare battery terminal, or the ACC (accessory) power line. Follow standard polarity: connect the red wire to the positive terminal (or positive battery post) and the black wire to the negative terminal (or a chassis ground point on the vehicle's metal body). Connect the light units in parallel using the dedicated power cables, matching red-to-red and black-to-black.
For electrical safety, install a fuse and route the wiring along chassis channels to prevent abrasion. Seal all connections with electrical tape. Connecting to the ACC line allows the lights to turn off automatically when the engine stops; alternatively, install an independent switch or relay to prevent battery drain. When routing wires, account for vehicle lifting by leaving sufficient slack and select wire gauges capable of handling the electrical load. Check local traffic regulations before installation; in China, using underglow lights while driving is strictly prohibited (as it may be classified as an illegal modification) and is only permitted when the vehicle is stationary.
After installation, verify that all lights are functioning correctly. It is recommended to inspect the installed light strips at least once a week. When selecting light strips, ensure the side sections are not excessively long so that there is sufficient clearance for lift platforms. Select high-quality products with an IP67 or higher waterproof rating and vibration resistance, and regularly clean dust from the surface of the light strips.
