Trends in Automotive Tail Light Development

Jul 07, 2026

An ideal tail light should possess the following characteristics:
(1) High luminous intensity and an optimal light intensity distribution;
(2) Rapid rise time for light emission;
(3) Long service life, maintenance-free operation, and low energy consumption;
(4) High durability regarding switching cycles;
(5) Good resistance to vibration and shock.
Currently, the light sources primarily used in automotive tail lights are incandescent bulbs, although new light sources-such as light-emitting diodes (LEDs) and neon lights-have also emerged.
