How To Turn On The Forklift Headlights

Aug 18, 2026

There are two ways to switch on the forklift's headlights. One method involves using the combination switch located on the steering column; rotating it forward activates the lights. This switch typically has two settings: the first turns on the parking lights (or sidelights), and a further turn activates the headlights-a design commonly found in domestic and Japanese vehicles. The second method uses a dedicated headlight switch located on the left side of the dashboard; rotating it to the right engages the lights, with the first position activating the parking lights and a further turn switching on the headlights.

Operating a forklift requires mastering certain key techniques. Control levers-usually black and located to the right of the steering wheel-are used to adjust the height and tilt of the forks. To prevent the fork tips from striking the ground while driving, they should be raised to a height of 5.1 to 10.2 centimeters.

Releasing the emergency brake requires a specific sequence of actions. First, press the brake pedal (located to the left of the accelerator) with your left foot, then apply the brake with your right foot, and finally push the parking brake lever forward. Throughout this process, you must keep your foot on the brake pedal to prevent the forklift from moving unexpectedly.
